Bouncers Don’t Need Guns, None of Them Has Been Killed By Customer, Security Expert Musamali
- The Association has bounced Kenya as a government to allow them to carry licensed weapons to protect themselves from the daily threats they face
- However, security expert George Musamali said the bouncers did not need weapons because it would cause many civilians to have firearms.
- He also told TUKO.co.ke that there are issues preventing bouncers from carrying weapons, such as tuition, storage and payment issues.
Security expert George Musamali joined the ongoing conversation about arming the bouncers with weapons, and he said it would lead to a catastrophe in society.
Plea Security Experts Bounced on Firearms
In an exclusive interview with TUKO.co.keAmondi Aroko, Musamali shared the bouncers, hardly risking threatening their lives to the point where they need to carry weapons.
A day ago, TUKO.co.ke reported the Bouncers Association Kenya said they were dealing with robbers and terrorists and all sorts of threats.
They called for government to allow them to start carrying licensed weapons to protect yourself at work.
Some bouncers said most of them were dependent on trade to feed their families, and would not want to jeopardize it.
But Musamali thinks otherwise because he believes that arming the bouncers will lead to greater challenges than good.
“This will result in too many firearms in the hands of civilians. The second challenge is learning if we have the ability to teach bouncers to carry firearms, and storing that firearm is another matter. Where do you store them? Who will be responsible for that?” he asked.
According to Musamali, bouncers in the past have harmed their customers more than their customers have harmed them to be armed.
He also asked if their employers, who would have them armed, would pay them good money so they wouldn't be able to use their firearms for shady deals.
“Is this move based on threat analysis? I haven't seen a bouncer who was killed by a client or client at the club. We have to tell these people that we can't use firearms as a status symbol. And that's exactly what's going on in Kenya, every other person wants a gun, but bouncers don't need weapons,” he added.
