Dennis Karuri Says He Didn’t Attend Edwin Chiloba’s Funeral Because He’d Attract Attention: “I’m a Celebrity”
A well-known makeup artist and cross-dresser has revealed why he did not attend the funeral of murdered gay activist Edwin Chiloba.
Chilob was buried on Tuesday, January 17, with his father's home in the village of Sergoit in Elgeyo Marakvet County.
Karuri on why he did not attend Chiloba's funeral
In an interview with YouTuber Mungai Eve, Karuri explained that attending the funeral was not appropriate because he did not know the late fashion model personally.
He also said the funeral ceremony focused on the family.
“That's what I say, give me flowers when I'm still alive, don't bring me flowers when I'm dead. I haven't even seen Edwin in person. I couldn't just go there and get involved in everything. It was very family-oriented,” he said.
Karuri added that to be Celebrity, he would have attracted unnecessary attention at the ceremony.
“I wouldn't want to go there and create attention. You know me I'm a celebrity, so I get attention. I wouldn't want to go there then boom, something happens! Another topic! Denno ameonekana sijui wapi. May he rest in peace and let justice be served,” he said.
