Dominique Metzger had joined fans in a celebratory jig when her bag was stealthily opened and her property stolen.
The journalist reported the matter to the Qatari police who surprised her after they asked what punishment the suspected thug should face if and when arrested.
Metzger revealed that male Qatari law enforcement officers had ignored her on account of being a woman in the largely patriarchal country.
“Male police won't register you. As soon as I got to the police station, they took me to another place where there were only women. I asked why I was there and they told me as I'm a woman, it has to be a policewoman who has to help me,” she said.
The media practitioner added she was told her property would be found.
“We will find the wallet… We have cameras everywhere, high-tech cameras and we will find the thief with face detection technology. What do you want the justice system to do to them when they are found?”
