Musalia Mudavadi’s Mansion: Inside Palatial Karen Home of Politician Boasting KSh 4b Net Worth
- Amani National Congress (ANC) Party leader Musalia Mudavadi is a man of means and comes from an influential family
- His father was an influential Moi-era politician, with the soft-spoken prime cabinet secretary nominee estimating his wealth to be around KSh 4 billion
- Like many other politicians with old money, Mudavadi owns numerous stately homes in Karen and Riverside, Nairobi
Musalia Mudavadi announced his net worth to be KSh 4 billion while being vetted for the prime cabinet secretary post in Parliament.
Mudavadi's huge Karen mansion
Mudavadi occupied a mansion in Riverside until his unique Karen residence was completed, and images of the sprawling mansion surfaced when his mother passed away.
Politicians visiting to commiserate with Mudavadi offered a glimpse of the luxurious life he leads.
The house sits on an expansive piece of land and has two main wings, two storeys high, connected by a one-storey section between them. The buildings have huge, Mediterranean-style windows on all levels.
Mudavadi’s huge compound boasting a well-manicured lawn, can host hundreds of people, as was the case when his mother passed away.
The walls are of pale cream and brown, with parts of the compound paved using cabro blocks arranged in a circular pattern and a circular driveway dots the front of the main house.
Security is a priority for the politician, and a perimeter wall with climbing plants surrounds the compound. It is topped off with barbed wire to keep off intruders.
Workers die at Mudavadi’s house
In 2019, the mansion made headlines for the wrong reasons during its construction when three people died at the site.
The ANC leader owned up to his association with the site but claimed he was a project partner.
“Seven workers on a construction project in which I’ve partnered drank an unknown concoction. Sadly, three lost their lives but four have been discharged,” tweeted Mudavadi.
Unconfirmed reports indicate a worker offered to heal a colleague’s stomach ache by boiling some roots promising to boost immunity.
The rest of the men also drank the concoction before they started writhing in pain on the floor. Three of them died.
Raila Odinga's Karen home
In other news, TUKO.co.ke reported that Raila Odinga owns numerous luxurious homes, including a humongous yellow structure in Riat Hills in Kisumu that reportedly cost hundreds of millions.
However, he spends most of his time at his highly guarded Karen home.
Raila's residence boasts a glass room offering calming views of the lush, well-trimmed garden with numerous trees, shrubs and flowers.
