Sheared Arva took to her Instagram to share it video stating that it is the cultural practice of her Nigerian in-laws after she gave birth to a child.
She signed her post in part:
“In Nigerian culture, after you give birth, your mother-in-law and sister come to stay with you for 40 days. Wait, let me explain. It is a traditional post-birth care among Nigerians. It is given to new mothers by their mothers to help them enter motherhood by providing knowledge and support throughout the first 40 days of the baby's life. It's a practice that merits keeping postnatal depression at bay.”
