Square Chapatis Leave Many Kenyans Unsettled: “Inakaa Kibeti”
A social media user has sparked a stir in the famous culinary group after sharing an unusual chapatis.
Square chapatis divide Kenyans
A favorite delicacy, usually circular, was instead made in the shape of a square.
Netizens noted that chapatis should not be circular.
“Kumbe si lazima chapati ziwe mviringo. Leo nimepatana on hizi.”

Square Chapatis sparked an interesting debate where Kenyans expressed diverse views. Some thought that taste, not form, mattered.
However, others prefer to stick to the old round chapatis, saying that a new name should be given a square shape. Below are some of the reactions:
Ken Ken Kennedy:
“It's not a chapatti. C represents the circle, and since these ones are square, we must call them shapati. Zapati is another alternative name suggestion.”
Esther Macau:
“Square – the best.”
Katherine Katie:
“They seem to be easier to cook. After rolling out the dough, you cut the chapatis without any fuss. Renting has always been my tricky part of making chapati.”
Rachel Gachuna:
“Abomination! The name chapati has certain irreducible minimal qualities, including areas of brown, lat or spreaded, soft with enough oil and a round shape.
AJ Mahar:
“Next time you'll see a parallelogram of self-seeding.”
Bogetadorio Dan:
“As long as they're well cooked. I was in Qatar yeaterday and saw round samosas.”
