TikToker Cares for Visually Impaired Parents
Anthony Karani revealed that both of his parents have visual impairments and it was difficult for him to provide for them.
In conversation with TUKO.co.ke, the 25-year-old said he was doing a strange job like digging to provide for his parents. According to Karani, his parents had lost his sight by the time he was born.
“My father lost his sight when he was one year old. My mom was partially blind by the time she entered high school and couldn't see anything until her fourth form.”
They met and fell in love with each other, but there was no happy after that due to financial constraints.
Karani said he started working to support his parents at a young age.
“I went to Gatunga Boys High School and was in class during the day and I worked as a caretaker at night. During the school holidays, I worked as a shamba boy.”
Karani, who holds a certificate in marketing and management, said his dream is to engage in communication and become a journalist, but his priority is to help his parents.
“Providing them with basic needs like food and clothing is a challenge and that's why I'm looking for a better job.
I'd rather sleep hungry than see that they don't have food,” said Karani, who now works as a shopkeeper.
