
Zambian Man Refuses to Leave His Late Brother’s Wife After Traditional Cleansing Ceremony
Police arrested the man after he blew up his daughter-in-law's house when he was ordered to be released.

Aunt Kapanshya, 22, moved into his late brother's house after family the decision to clean the estate.

According to police, Kapanshya wanted to continue to stay with his daughter-in-law.
Luapula provincial commander Gloria Moulet said the 22-year-old justified his threat and blew up the widow's house after returning from a spree of drinking at 10 p.m.
The police chief said it took the intervention of neighbors to put out the fire, as well as stop its spread to other homes.
“On December 10, 2022, the family chose Mr. Kapanshya to go and cleanse the complainant, and they began to stay with the wife of their late brother. A few days later, he was told to leave the house because he had cleaned her up, but he refused to do so because he wanted to continue staying with his late brother's wife as his own wife,” Moulet said.
She also stated that the widow refused to stay with him further because he had already cleared her.
“She pushed him out of her house. Mr. Kapanshya was annoyed and threatened her that he was going to kill himself or light the house,” she said.
